Please Share: Team Wonderfoo & the NYC Kidney Walk

Christine & John Szeluga at the NYC Kidney Walk
"Kidney disease doesn't get the attention, funding or concern associated with cancers of the breast or prostate. But it actually kills more Americans -- 90,000 a year -- than both malignancies combined." - New York Times, July 15, 2013

Please visit http://donate.kidney.org/goto/johnszeluga to sponsor or join Team Wonderfoo.

Why do I walk for the National Kidney Foundation? I do it for family and friends who have been affected by kidney disease, and I also do it because the National Kidney Foundation is a very effective and efficient organization. Nearly 80 cents of every dollar goes directly to vital programs and services. You don't see numbers like that when you look at a lot of other charities, and I want my dollars and efforts to help as many people as possible.

Between four comedy shows and five kidney walks, my team has raised over $15,000 since December of 2008. I will be participating in the National Kidney Foundation's Kidney Walk again this November, and I hope you will consider either joining or sponsoring my team. This is a cause that is very important to me, and together I know we can make a difference.

Did you know that if each of my Facebook friends gave just one dollar, I would more than exceed my fundraising goal for the year?

If you're free on Sunday, November 9, 2014, you should really consider joining my team. This is a great cause for an amazing organization, and the walk itself is a lot of fun. We meet up at Foley Square in Manhattan at 9:30 AM, then at 10:30 AM we walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and back. If you can't donate or join the team, please spread the word. Post something on Facebook, tweet about it, or send an email. Just telling people about this cause is a tremendous help.

To everyone who has helped so far, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Your contribution will go to programs and services that benefit kidney patients, transplant recipients, organ donors and their families: early detection screenings, research, education for professionals and patients, and much more.

Check donations can be mailed to:

The National Kidney Foundation
ATTN: 2012 NYC Kidney Walk

Please specify the Walker and/or Team the donation is supporting in order to credit the donation correctly (Team Wonderfoo).

Why Walk the Kidney Walk?

Chronic kidney disease affects 26 million Americans--1 in 9--and millions more are at risk.

Kidney disease is common, harmful and treatable.

Risk factors include high blood pressure, diabetes and family history of kidney disease.

Early detection can slow or even prevent the progression of kidney disease.

Once kidneys fail, patients need dialysis or a transplant to survive.

More than 85,000 Americans are waiting for a kidney transplant.
